FAQ
Quick answers about your order, our tea, brewing and subscriptions.
Orders & shipping
Shipping, tracking, returns and paying.
How much is shipping?
Orders over a set amount ship free. Under that, you pay a flat rate based on your province. Checkout shows your exact shipping cost before you pay.
Standard takes 2 to 7 business days, and some addresses can also choose expedited. The current free shipping amount is on our Shipping & returns page.
Where is my order?
When your order ships, we email you a tracking link. Tap it to see where your box is.
Can’t find that email? Check your spam folder, or log in to see your orders. If tracking stops moving, email support@firebellytea.com with your order number and we’ll look into it.
My order arrived damaged or something is missing
We’re sorry. Email support@firebellytea.com within 30 days of getting your order. Send your order number, what went wrong, and a photo if you can. We’ll work with you to make it right.
Can I return or exchange something?
Reach out within 30 days of getting your order and we’ll work it out with you. Opened tea and used accessories usually can’t be returned. Sale items and gift cards are final sale.
If a refund is approved, it goes back to the way you paid. Your bank may take a few days to show it. Full details on our Shipping & returns page.
Why won’t my order go through?
First, check that you’re on the site for the country you’re shipping to. This is our Canadian site, for Canadian addresses, in Canadian dollars. Shipping to the US? Order on firebellytea.com.
Still stuck? Email support@firebellytea.com and we’ll help you finish your order.
Do you ship outside Canada and the US?
Not right now. We ship to addresses in Canada and the US only.
What payment do you take?
Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Firebelly digital gift cards work too.
Can I use more than one discount code?
One code per order. Codes can’t be combined, so pick the one that saves you the most.
How is tax worked out?
Tax is based on the address your order ships to. You see the exact amount at checkout before you pay.
I can’t log in to my account
You don’t need a password. Log in with your email and we’ll send you a one-time 6-digit code. Type it in and you’re in.
No code after a couple of minutes? Check your spam folder.
Can I send tea as a gift?
Yes. Add it to your cart and enter their address for shipping at checkout. Our sets and bundles are a good place to start, or send a digital gift card.
Can I buy Firebelly in a store?
Yes. Our tea is on the shelf at stores across Canada and the US. Find one near you on our store locator.
Our tea
What’s in the bag and where it comes from.
Are your teas organic?
Every whole leaf tea and herbal blend we sell is certified organic. You can see it on each tea’s page.
Our matcha is the one difference. It’s ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha, shade-grown, stone-milled and third-party tested, but the matcha itself isn’t certified organic. The yuzu, ginger and turmeric in our flavoured matchas are organic.
Do you use flavourings?
No. Our teas taste like what’s in them. The vanilla in The Crowd Pleaser is real Madagascar vanilla. Paradise is chamomile from Croatia, lavender from Albania and lemon verbena from Paraguay.
What’s on the ingredient list is what’s in the bag.
Is there sugar in your tea?
No. We don’t add sugar or sweeteners. Some blends taste sweet on their own, from real apple, carob, licorice root or cocoa.
Where can I see ingredients and allergens?
Every tea’s page lists its full ingredients. Two to know: The Crowd Pleaser contains almonds, and Dark Chocolate Shake contains barley.
Are your teas gluten-free?
None of our teas contain wheat. Dark Chocolate Shake contains barley, which has gluten. Our teas aren’t made in a gluten-free facility, so if you have celiac disease or a serious allergy, please email support@firebellytea.com before you order.
Which teas have caffeine?
Our black teas, green teas and matchas have caffeine, and so does No Ordinary Joe, which is made with roasted yerba mate. All our other herbal teas are caffeine free.
How much caffeine is in a cup?
It depends on the tea and how long you steep it. As a guide, the US FDA lists about 71 mg in a 12 oz cup of black tea and 37 mg in green tea. Brewed coffee has 113 to 247 mg.
A shorter steep gives you less.
How long does tea keep?
Dry tea keeps a long time, but its flavour slowly fades. Seal the pouch after each use and keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of the sun.
Brewing
Simple steps for a good cup.
How much tea do I use?
One tablespoon of leaves for one cup. For iced tea or a latte, use two. Matcha is different: ½ teaspoon for a bowl, or ¾ to 1 teaspoon for a latte. Each tea’s page has its own steps.
How hot should the water be, and how long do I steep?
- Black tea: 88°C (190°F), 2 to 5 minutes
- Green tea: 77°C (170°F), 2 to 3 minutes
- Herbal tea: 88°C (190°F), 5 to 7 minutes
- Matcha: 77°C (170°F), whisk until frothy
No thermometer? Boil the water. For black and herbal tea, let it cool for 1 to 2 minutes. For green tea and matcha, let it cool for about 5 minutes. Boiling water makes green tea and matcha taste bitter. More in our Brew guides.
How do I make matcha?
Boil the water and let it cool for about 5 minutes, to about 77°C (170°F). Add ½ teaspoon of matcha (about 1 g) to a bowl, pour in 1 cup of the water and whisk until frothy.
For a latte or iced matcha, use ¾ to 1 teaspoon, then add frothed milk or pour it over ice.
Can I make iced tea?
Yes. Use 2 tablespoons of leaves, brew it hot, then pour it over ice or chill it in the fridge.
What do I need to brew whole leaf tea?
A strainer and a cup. Our Tea Strainer fits in any cup and comes with a little cup to rest it in. On the go, the Stop-Infusion Travel Mug lets you stop the steep when your tea is ready.
Subscriptions
Your tea, on a schedule you pick.
How does a subscription work?
Open a tea’s page, choose Subscribe & save, and pick how often it comes: every 30, 60 or 90 days on most teas. We send it on that schedule and charge you for each delivery. Shipping is free on every delivery after your first order.
What do I save?
Each tea’s page shows the subscription price right next to the one-time price, so you can see the difference before you choose.
What if a tea is on sale?
Subscribe while a tea is on sale and your first delivery gets the sale price, plus your 15% off. From your second delivery on, you pay 15% off our regular price, and shipping is free.
Can I skip, swap or cancel?
Yes, anytime. Log in to your subscription to skip a delivery, swap teas, change how often it comes, or cancel.
Can I subscribe to any tea?
Most teas, yes. If a tea’s page doesn’t show Subscribe & save, that one isn’t on subscription yet.
